This 5-day training seminar is designed to teach the basic concepts and introduce the participant to advanced topics in Quantitative Electroencephalography (QEEG). This is a highly experiential course covering the QEEG from electrode placement to interpretation. All participants will learn electrode placement, recording techniques, visual inspection of the EEG and how to recognize artifacts by the collection of 19 channel EEG on a variety of hardware/software options with a maximum of three participants to each EEG system. The course will additionally cover EEG editing, QEEG analysis and the use of statistics and databases for interpretation. The participant will be exposed to a variety of software for analysis and will be given an understanding of basic concepts such as amplitude, power, coherence and advanced concepts such as Low Resolution Electromagnetic Tomography (LORETA) for interpreting the QEEG. Research and clinically relevant interpretive techniques will be included. Since the discovery of photic driving by Adrian and Matthews in 1934, much has been discovered about the benefits of entraining brainwaves, or audio-visual entrainment (AVE) as it is commonly known today. In this 2-Day course, research on the effectiveness of AVE in promoting relaxation, hypnotic induction, and meditation will be discussed. The physiological and/or psychological aspects of treatment with AVE in ADD, PMS, SAD, PTSD, migraine headaches, chronic pain, anxiety, depression and falling in seniors will be reviewed in detail. Techniques and clinical results, including pre-post brain maps and HRV outcomes will be shown. Treatment protocols (in the DAVID systems) for insomnia, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, trauma, anxiety, depression, seasonal affective disorder, ADD, ADHD, and cognitive disorders will be presented, as well as, how to write "prescriptions" into the system. Cranio Electro-stimulation or CES, another rapidly growing technology, will be discussed in its effectiveness in reducing anxiety and improving cognitive function in recovering alcoholics and drug addicts. Treatment of generalized anxiety, depression, attention disorders, and insomnia with CES as a tool, will be discussed in detail.
